This page shows the various weapons and armor available in LEGOLAND. The bare minimum armament are your fists and your feet (for kicking). Each weapon or armor level raises your attack/defense points by the value shown. (Your character will be assigned points like in an RPG -- this will be described in an upcoming page.)
Each minifig can carry two items with his hands (and additional items if equipped with a backpack). Some weapons require two hands to operate, so if you want to use one of those items, you'll have to free a hand by either dropping something or by storing it in a backpack. The cannon can be operated by one player, but he must reload it himself by walking around to the front. Having another player help you load it will speed up its rate of fire. And no, you cannot carry it.
Ideally, anything in the game world could be used as a weapon, either by throwing it or using it as a club. If you've seen the Half-Life 2 demo movies, recall the "gravity gun" that was demonstrated, which was used to pick up large objects and throw them. Based on this, I'm quite sure the Source engine can handle the throwing of things like bricks and plates. I also plan on making "secondary fire" for the weapons to be the opposite of their type contact weapons will become ranged and vice-versa. (So, you can throw a sword at your enemy or pistol-whip him.)
I also want to have special effects attached to certain weapons like the magic wand or the flamethrower. The flamethrower will be especially cool since you'll be able to melt your enemies. Doing this to LEGO pieces in real life is not recommended.
I haven't yet decided whether to have certain weapons and armor available based on a technology level system (as in BrikWars) or to restrict them to the theme from which they come (no light sabers would exist in the castle theme, for example). I would like to have some free-for-all levels in which everything is available, but to keep it simple at first, the stuff you can use will have to be limited in some manner.
Please make suggestions about this page. I'm particularly concerned that some weapons are at the wrong class level and should have their damage raised or lowered accordingly. I'm aware that some of the graphics are too dark, but that's usually because the LEGO element shown is black. In a future update, each thumbnail will be a link to a larger version of itself, so don't worry about it. Also, if a picture won't display, that's because I don't have one yet. Finally, the menu to the left has an extra border -- that will be removed someday.
